The Archive as a Word Guardian

How do we know the past?

Since the Middle Ages, the Archive of the Cathedral of Barcelona has preserved thousands of parchments and books that explain the history of the city. A significant part of these are relative to the Jewish community of Barcelona, which, since at least the 9th century, has lived and shared their daily lives with the Christian community. At the Archive we can find all types of deeds (purchases, rents, wills, etc) that help us reconstruct the lives of those who lived in the Jewish quarter.

But, what do the documents say? What type of information appears and how do the researchers fill in the gaps? We encourage you to be a researcher for a day and discover it for yourselves!
